Why I Serve: Jasmine Hill
March 8-14 is AmeriCorps Week 2020, and we’re celebrating each day by shining a light on one of the dedicated and hard-working AmeriCorps Service Members serving at BRIDGES!
My name is Jasmine Hill. I am 23 years old and I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I am currently a University of Memphis undergraduate student due to graduate in Memphis, TN. My major is Integrative Studies with a concentration in Youth Services. I thoroughly enjoy cooking, as I like to try new recipes. I also love trying new local restaurants as I consider myself as being a foodie. I also like singing and dancing, as I prefer doing it in the comfort of my own home.
I chose to serve as an AmeriCorps member because as a youth a huge impact on my life and who I am today was because of AmeriCorps members. AmeriCorps focuses on justice issues among our communities and encourages youth as well as adults to take action on speaking on them. I chose to serve because I saw what impact it had on me and I would like to put that same impact on others.
Bridge Builders helped me grow in skills that I lacked in such as speaking up and speaking out. I found my voice through this program and knowing I can do the same for youth today inspired me to come back and serve.
