Fall TRAINING opportunities for 7th-12th graders:
Saturday, September 15th 9:00am-12:00pm at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105) 100 spots available

Monday, September 24th 4:30pm-7:30pm at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105) 100 spots available

Bridge Builders will develop unique connections with each other through communication and team building activities.


ELECTIVE opportunities:

Saturday, September 8th 11:30am-1:30pm

7th-12th Indie Memphis Youth Film Fest Elective at Halloran Centre for Performing Arts (225 S. Main St., 38103)

Learn about the ins and outs of filmmaking from local producers, directors, and musicians. Bridge Builders must attend at least 1 workshop but may stay for the full slate of events if desired. Lunch and dinner will be provided. Students must visit https://youthfest2018.indiememphis.com/welcome and print out a free pass. 50 spots available.

7th-12th Cloud901 Art Workshop Elective at Benjamin L Hooks Central Library (3030 Poplar Ave., 38111)

Learn about the basics around painting, sketching, drawing, and sculpture at the Cloud901 Teen Lab. 20 spots available.

Thursday, September 20th 6:00pm-7:30pm

 7th-12th Cloud901 Video Workshop Elective at Benjamin L Hooks Central Library (3030 Poplar Ave., 38111)

 Write, shoot, and edit your own short film in just a few hours at the Cloud901 Teen Lab! No experience necessary; all equipment is provided. 20 spots available.


COMMUNITY ACTION opportunities:

Saturday, September 15th 10:00am-12:00pm

7th-12th Day of Service Community Action in Whiteheven meet at Middle Baptist Church (801 Whitehaven Ln., 38116)

In partnership with Memphis City Beautiful and Whitehaven Lane residents, Bridge Builders will listen to representatives from David Carnes Park, Whitehaven Land and Whitehaven HS speaking on the significance of the park and school as it relates to the neighborhood and integration of the school.  Bridge Builders and community members will clean the community.  You will get dirty at this community action.  Bring gloves and a water bottle.  Parents are encouraged to attend and participate with their Bridge Builder.  75 spots available.


Saturday, September 22nd 9:00am-12:00pm

7th-12th Intergenerational Community Action for Students & Parents/Guardians at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105)

In the current climate of the United States, we face environmental, political and social questions of injustice everyday. This community action aims at bridging the divide between youth and parents in the struggle to transform and strengthen our community. Students and parents/guardians are required to attend together; 75 student spots and 75 parent/guardian spots available.


Friday, September 28th 8:30am-3:00pm

9th-12th Engage Memphis Community Action & Elective at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105)

At Engage Memphis, students will learn about youth involvement in political action, including how to leverage spheres of influence to impact elections. Lunch will be provided, and students will receive a Community Action & an Elective credit for attending. 100 spots available.


Sunday, September 30th 2:00pm – 5:00pm

7th-12th Interfaith Community Action with 901Ummah at MIFA (910 Vance Ave., 38126)

Students will work with members of 901Ummah, learning about Islam while packing shelf-stable meals for Meals on Wheels recipients. 50 spots available.
