Bridge Builders will develop unique connections with each other through communication and team building activities.

ELECTIVE opportunities:

Friday, December 6th 6:00pm-8:00pm

7th-12th Meditation + Buddhism Elective at 3921 Frayser-Raleigh Rd., 38128

Candia Ludy will give a primer on Buddhism followed by an hour-long guided meditation. Families are welcome to join. 25 spots available.

Tuesday, December 10th 5:45pm-7:00pm

7th-12th Characters in Clay Cloud 901 Elective at Central Library (3030 Poplar Ave., 38111)

Get a chance to work with clay sculpture to design characters. 20 spots available.

Wednesday, December 11th 4:30pm-6:30pm

7th-12th Team BRIDGES Elective at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105)

Come prepared to move, play and get to know some fellow Bridge Builders while helping Team BRIDGES test out new activities.  You will have an opportunity to share your feedback on each game/challenge.  You can do all of this AND earn an elective credit.  It’s a win/win! 40 spots available.

7th-12th Yoga Elective – 1st Session at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105)

Bridge Builder alum Jalen Prather ’18 will lead students through some basic yoga exercises. No prior experience necessary! IMPORTANT NOTE: Students must bring a large towel or yoga mat; refillable water bottles are also recommended.

7th-12th Tarik Black’s From Tel Aviv to Memphis Elective at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105)

The Tarik Black Foundation is hosting a free multicultural celebration that will include watching a Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv basketball game while experiencing the food and games of different cultures. 75 spots available.

7th-12th Financial Literacy Community Action at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105)

Students will discuss living wages and poverty rates in Memphis and will take part in a simulation to learn about financial literacy and stability. 100 spots available.

Saturday, December 14th 7:00am-9:00am

7th-12th NCC Holiday Baskets Community Action – Shift 1 at 2934 Fleetbrook Dr., 38116

Students and parents/guardians are invited to help Neighborhood Christian Center prepare their holiday baskets. Assembly will take place in a warehouse, so please wear warm clothing and closed-toe shoes! 30 spots available.

We recognize we have a number of students who complete service projects around the city through other organizations, and we want to honor that involvement. Students will be emailed instructions about submitting their projects on December 18. 150 spots available.

8th-12th Guy Talk Focus Group Community Action – FOR MALE-IDENTIFYING STUDENTS ONLY at BRIDGES (477 N. 5th St., 38105)

A great opportunity for our male Bridge Builders to discuss healthy relationships, self-esteem, abstinence, and other topics of interest in a safe and open space. You will be helping to pilot a new program aimed at encouraging positive health, education, and economic outcomes for young men in Memphis. 30 spots available.
