ELECTIVE OPPORTUNITIES

Monday, September 21

7th-12th Operation Get Active Online Elective – virtual

OGA Online is a free and fun interactive soccer program designed to be completed at home to keep you fit and teach you new skills. The program is open to all skill levels and is a great opportunity to pick up a new hobby! Videos are available in English and Spanish. We have a limited number of workbooks on hand, so if you register on the OGA website, email Veena to get yours. Students must complete at least 3 of the videos to receive c.redit. 40 spots available.

7th-12th Yoga + Mindfulness Elective on Zoom

Join us for a guided yoga and mindfulness session! You will learn some new mindfulness techniques and have the chance to chat with a licensed instructor about the importance of mental and physical health. All skill levels are welcome! 30 spots available

Monday, September 28, 4.15pm-6pm

7th-12th Make Big Talk Elective on Zoom

Big Talk is a global movement about skipping small talk to ask deep questions, share stories, feel less alone, and make more meaningful connections. You will learn the story of Big Talk and have the chance to “make Big Talk” with other Bridge Builders. 20 spots available.

COMMUNITY ACTION OPPORTUNITIES

September 2020

7th-12th Choose Your Own Community Action at various locations

An opportunity for students to receive credit for service they complete independent of Bridge Builders. Students will be emailed a form on the 15th to complete and submit to the BBCLC for approval. 100 spots available.

Monday, September 14, 4.30pm-6pm

7th-12th Guy Talk Community Action – FOR MALE-IDENTIFYING STUDENTS on Zoom

A fun & informative program that introduces topics related to healthy relationships and changes young men experience. Topics include hygiene, anatomy, healthy consent, abstinence, and more. You will have the opportunity to goal set and plan for the future. 30 spots available.

Tuesday, September 22, 4.30pm-6pm

7th-12th Girl Talk Community Action – FOR FEMALE-IDENTIFYING STUDENTS on Zoom

A fun & informative program with sessions about abstinence, healthy relationships, & effective birth control, Girl Talk includes games, photos, and prizes. Girls will have the opportunity to make #iPlans and will be provided with a career/life road map. 30 spots available.

PLEASE NOTE: We have limited opportunities in September as we assess how virtual programming fits into our students’ current academic situations as well as the capacities of our community partners. We will have many more events October-December, so please do not worry if you are not able to attend any of the events we have in September.
