Author Ibram X. Kendi will be talking about his bestselling book “How to Be an Antiracist”, including how racism extends beyond race to the way we regard people of different ethnicities, religions, gender identities, and body types. Inspired by artworks featured in the Brooks Museum’s Native Voices exhibition, students from Hutchison School have planned a variety of activities and discussions for teens led by teens. Admission and activities are free for students 13-18. 25 spaces available.

We recognize we have a number of students who complete service projects around the city through other organizations, and we want to honor that involvement. Students will be emailed on the 15th with instructions on how to log their hours. 150 spots available.

The Shelby County Youth Summit aims to bring youth together from all over Shelby County to create recommendations on the following issues: mental health, poverty, crime, education, and transportation. 9th-12th Elevating Diversity in the Legal Profession Community Action & Elective at U of M Law School (1 N. Front St. Memphis, TN 38103)

An exciting opportunity for high school students interested in law! UofM Law School’s annual event celebrating diversity in the legal profession will provide students information about law school as well as allow the opportunity to see a mock trial demonstration and meet current Memphis Law students and faculty. 9th-12th Sexual Health Literacy Community Action (600 Jefferson Ave. Memphis, TN 38105)

Bridge Builders will learn how to create a relationship with their doctor through open communication & safe spaces. Students will be able to advise medical residents on the best way to provide care to teen patients. There will be role plays around teen/doctor situations, including safe sex practices, birth control, confidentiality, & body image. Participation in this event will include consenting to participate in a research study through LeBonheur & UTHSC. For this, you will complete a pretest, posttest, and two short online follow up surveys. 25 spots available
