Before you arrive for your event, let us answer a few common questions about what you can expect:
Team BRIDGES operates by the “Challenge by Choice” philosophy. This means no one will be required to do anything they don’t want to do. We believe that growth, both as an individual and a team, happens while outside of the comfort zone, but we also recognize that comfort zones are different in every situation for every individual.
It’s up to the participants to set their own boundaries. Team BRIDGES provides a positive and encouraging space for these choices to happen. Our staff comprises highly trained professionals, and we’ll be present to assist you throughout your experience. Adaptations can be made for all willing participants.
1. Waivers are mandatory for participation in all Team BRIDGES activities. A waiver must be filled out for each participant individually. If a participant is under 18 years of age, the waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
2. Closed-toed shoes are also mandatory. Open toe-shoes are not permitted on the high ropes course but are allowed on the rock wall.
3. Please wear comfortable clothing. Athletic wear, jeans, and shorts are acceptable. If you’ll be participating in the rock wall or high ropes course, you’ll be wearing a harness. The harness will fit snugly around your thighs and waist. Pants or long shorts are generally more comfortable to wear under a harness.
4. Feel free to bring a water bottle to keep with you during activities. It’s important to stay hydrated during your visit at BRIDGES. We do have a water fountain, but having a personal water bottle cuts down on time for drink breaks, which leaves more time for fun!
Our number one priority is safety. Before every activity, a Team BRIDGES staffer will give the group instructions. It’s your responsibility to listen carefully to these instructions and follow them closely. If at any time you have questions, concerns, or feel like you’re moving outside of the boundaries you’ve set for yourself, please notify a Team BRIDGES staffer immediately. Our goal is to help participants feel confident, to keep all willing participants engaged and included, and for everyone to have an enjoyable experience.
Young people are born with creativity and passion to lead. BRIDGES has worked with thousands of students to unlock that potential and activate new generations of leaders across Memphis.
